Respect

The first and most important value is respect. The word 'respect' has been there with me since I can remember. We Albanians grew up learning that we should respect elderly no matter what. I also think it's very important to respect elderly, and everyone. Some things we have to do towards elderly is always offer something to drink when they are near you, if for example your grandfather comes in the house then you have to stand up,...

Besa

Another important value is called 'besa' and the literal translation is trust. But it actually means to keep a promise, so keeping your promise is really important in Albanian culture. Growing up my parents also made it clear for me that I should fulfill the promises I make but if I think I'm not able to fulfil it, I shouldn't even promise something to someone I'm not able to do.

Freedom

Freedom within the Albanian community is really important. Albania is a country with a long history of getting ruled, trying to get ruled and fighting for its country.

For this reason, freedom is so important to Albanians. They always had to fight for their freedom and they did so every time.
